De 16-jarige Robin Lee Graham wil de jongste persoon worden die de wereld rondvaart in een sloep van 23 voet genaamd 'The Dove'. Tijdens zijn reis ontmoet hij Patti Ratteree, die ook de wereld rondreist, en wordt hij verliefd.
